BEAR X BEAR •
BEAR × BEAR is more than a project—it’s a ritual, a rhythm, and a shared adventure. It began on January 1, 2023. Every morning since, we meet in quiet synchrony: Twin A draws; Twin B collages. This daily practice is fueled by curiosity, grounded in play, and inspired by the visionary works of John Evans (1932–2012) and Ray Johnson (1927–1995). Each piece becomes a page in an evolving visual diary—a space where experimentation and intuition lead.
At the center of it all stands the bear. A recurring and familiar figure from our childhood, it carries the weight of twin folklore, memory, and transformation. Our silhouetted bear fuses multiple cultural icons—Care Bears, Teddy Ruxpin, Smokey, Paddington, Yogi, and Winnie-the-Pooh—flattened into a single form of nostalgia and storytelling. But the bear is more than an image; it is also an action. To bear is to carry, to endure, to create, and to witness.
Through BEAR × BEAR, we bear witness to each other’s growth, honoring the act of making with presence and intention. This ongoing ritual reminds us—and, we hope, others—that even the smallest gestures of creativity can open pathways to connection, spontaneity, and joy.
